A father’s love - inspirational video

Last year I posted the inspirational video of Team Hoyt, an amazing story of a father’s relationship with his son.

Earlier this month Rory Dyer showed us an equally inspirational video during the GodFirst Church Men’s camp (Download audio resources | view some pictures )

The video replays the 400m race from the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Britain’s Derek Redmond tears his hamstring, then gets up to try to finish the race. His father comes down from the stands to help him cross the finish line.

Sex In The City

Our church, GodFirst Johannesburg, will be kicking off an eight week series entitled Sex in the City, which is set to get tongues talking.

According to PJ Smyth, “Prudish fundamentalists should please take a Valium before setting out for GodFirst.”

It kicks off on Sun 17 May 2009 and if anyone is interested we’ll be at the Montecasino gathering. Hope to see you there.

Indescribable

For the last day or two I noticed a link floating around the web with the caption “Holy sh*t we’re small“. Finally my curiosity got the better of me and I opened the link, expecting to see some minature-scale lego city or something opening up.

Surprisingly it was a depiction of how small the earth is in relation to the planets in our galaxy and beyond. This reminded me of the Louie Giglio, Indescribable talk from 2007.

The DVD takes you on an image-rich journey through the universe, showcasing the magnitude of God’s amazing greatness and grace. The billions and billions of stars above remind us how big God is and how small we really are. Yet He knows each star and He calls each person by name. A powerful message indeed.
