Online Marketing – Where Is It Going
// August 7th, 2006 // 13 Comments » // Blog Stuff, Media
Last week I attended the two-day KUGM Online Marketing conference in Rosebank, Johannesburg, that was maked (by the conference organisers) as the first comprehensive online marketing conference in the history of the local industry.
During the conference, online industry experts debated the state of South Africa’s online marketing industry through topics ranging from:
- Online marketing potential for South African companies
- Broadband and what it means for online advertising
- Web PR and online reputation management
- Affiliate marketing
- Understanding organic searching
- The rise of the blogosphere
- and any others…
The presenters were good and some interesting debates ensued on topics like search engine optimisation, the complexities of measurement, pay-per-click vs. pay-per-impression vs. pay-per-acquisition advertising and the need for an integrated marketing approach.
As could be expected, most of the panellists have their own blogs/websites and they are all worthy of a visit.
- Vinny Lingham – incuBeta
- Rudolph Muller – MyADSL
- Rob Stokes – Quirk eMarketing
- Richard Mullins – Acceleration
- Jonathan Miller – ForgeBusiness
- Peter Stewart – Clickthinking
- Caroline Lowings – Sweet16.co.za
- Matthew Buckland – Mail & Guardian
The conference was definitely worth-while and hopefully more of these forums will be held in future.
I’m off to go and check if my metatags are search engine optimised and that my RSS AJAX widgets are socially bookmarked. Or something….
