Eugene Terre’Blanche murdered

According to many reports – the leader of Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) Eugene Terre’Blanche was murdered at his farm 10km outside of Ventersdorp on Saturday.

As far as social media coverage goes, within the space of a few hours, over 315 news articles were already on Google, Wikipedia was updated, it started trending on twitter and was all over some Facebook wall posts.

This shocking news comes at a time when political and racial tension is once again at tenterhooks. This is probably one of those pivotal moments for our country. What our leaders do in the next few days or weeks will probably set the tone for the future of the country.

Now is the time for all our political leaders to calm down, to stop fuelling the fire and unite to take rational but decisive action for the betterment of the entire country. Remember, the world is watching and with the 2010 FIFA World Cup only days away we can’t afford any more negative publicity.
