Oh so avant-garde

Picture this. Here I am, sitting in a charming historical house with Georgian façade, accessed by a series of inner and outer staircases and furnished with a mixture of original old Cape Cottage furniture and some contemporary modern pieces. The rooftop deck affords me spectacular views of the city below, as well as a glimpse of the ever impressive mountain.
By now you should have an idea where I am. None other than the mother city, Cape Town and more specifically, at The Charles, situated in the avant-garde area of De Waterkant Village.

Much can be said for the tasteful innovation and application of new and old styling that makes up the interior (and exterior) of The Charles, but it is probably best to experience it for yourself.
Speaking of experiences, The Grand Café in Camps Bay is definitely one place that should be on your to-do list. Great food (I had the Kingklip with a sauce made from sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, spring onion, fresh cherry tomatoes, balsamic reduction on a bed of rocket), great wine (Springfield’s Life from Stone went down a treat) and an amazing sunset all contributed to what can only be described as a blissful evening in Cape Town.
It is no wonder then that the Capetonians are so chilled.

It sounds and looks gorgeous! I hope you get to dip your feet in the ocean & feel the sand between your toes, no coastal city visit complete without it!
