Marine One

Much has been said about the masterful use of social media by the Obama campaign. Now you can track President Barak Obama’s daily life in pictures on The Official White House Photostream.

Most if not all the photos are by Pete Souza, Chief Official White House Photographer and Director of the White House photo office. This man is brilliant.

One day when I’m grown up, I’d also like to be a photojournalist.

Footpaths criss-crossing Hyde Park in London, UK - Jason Hawkes

Jason Hawkes is probably one of the masters of aerial photography. His catalogue spans over 100,000 landscapes and over 35 aerial photographic books.

Lately he took to the sky in a helicopter, hanging out the doorway and capturing some stunning landscapes around the world. Most of these landscapes have been affected by humans, with some interesting patterns emerging. Go check out the collection of 26 pictures.

South Africa Elections, Vote, Inked thumb

Hey, have you voted yet? We have. Go exercise your democratic right and vote today. If you’re into all things social, tag your posts, pics, tweets, etc with #saelections and if you have pictures of your inked thumb then use #inkedthumb. The BBC is also collecting tweets, texts and pictures of the South African Elections.

Update: The BBC used my pic above to show the indelible ink after voting – check it out.

Sex In The City

// April 19th, 2009 // 4 Comments » // Video

Our church, GodFirst Johannesburg, will be kicking off an eight week series entitled Sex in the City, which is set to get tongues talking.

According to PJ Smyth, “Prudish fundamentalists should please take a Valium before setting out for GodFirst.”

It kicks off on Sun 17 May 2009 and if anyone is interested we’ll be at the Montecasino gathering. Hope to see you there.

Indescribable

// April 14th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Interesting

For the last day or two I noticed a link floating around the web with the caption “Holy sh*t we’re small“. Finally my curiosity got the better of me and I opened the link, expecting to see some minature-scale lego city or something opening up.

Indescribable small earth

Surprisingly it was a depiction of how small the earth is in relation to the planets in our galaxy and beyond. This reminded me of the Louie Giglio, Indescribable talk from 2007.

The DVD takes you on an image-rich journey through the universe, showcasing the magnitude of God’s amazing greatness and grace. The billions and billions of stars above remind us how big God is and how small we really are. Yet He knows each star and He calls each person by name. A powerful message indeed.

Check out the updated e-card for a glimpse of what Louie Giglio’s, Indescribable talk is all about.

If you still haven’t seen it, then pop over to CUM Books or buy it directly from the 268store.

No matter what your religious beliefs are, the science of it all is absolutely astounding.
