Will Facebook Kill Blogging As We Know It

// August 6th, 2007 // 25 Comments » // Blog Stuff

I’m currently pondering the question if Facebook is killing blogging as we know it? It seems that people are more inclined to update their facebook profiles and friends lists than actual blogging i.e. regular posting and commenting etc.

I don’t have a definitive answer yet, but my guess is that it is. What do you think?

Wage Strike Results in Fuel Shortage

// August 3rd, 2007 // 5 Comments » // News

Petrol Shortage due to wage strikeAccording to News24.com, the Chemical, Energy, Paper, Printing, Wood and Allied Workers’ Union (Ceppawu) [*try to say that 10 times fast with marshmallows in your mouth] released a statement (on 26/07/2007) indicating that they would strike over failed wage talks.

If you are on the roads today, you’d be forgiven to think you were in Zimbabwe. We’re definitely starting to feel the effects of this strike and you’d be hard pressed to find any petrol at the hundreds of service stations around the city. In particular, the service stations around Sandton were gridlocked today, with drivers anxiously awaiting their turn to fill up their cars.

Lucky I could locate all the petrol stations in my area with my trusty Garmin Nuvi, fill up and be on my merry way. Pity I left all the Jerrycans at home, they would have come in quite handy.
