Apple iPhone Hello Advert

Apple iPhone Hello AdvertI’m not going to get goo-goo-gaa-gaa over the much overhyped Apple iPhone. Way too many people have commented on it.

I do quite like the new “Hello” TV ad for the iPhone, launched during the recent Academy Awards.

It’s a pretty basic ad, however it does get the point across. The ad features characters from 31 movies and TV, answering the phone and saying “Hello”. Some of my friends who have had the misfortune of being treated subjected to my video editing endeavours, probably won’t contest the fact that I like these type of montage videos.

On a side note, do you know how many times the cast from the TV series Friends say “hello” in one show?

The ad can be found over at Apple.

Meme Time

I was tagged, not so long ago by Carlz over at crazyrant to share five things about myself that relatively few people know.

Hmm, so what has changed since the last time I did this?

  • I can lift heavy things.
  • In case you’re just tuning in, I’m a bit of a gadget fanatic. Don’t always have the cash for this bit of indulgence, but I’m definitely a big fan of gadgets that make our lives a little more technically challenging.
  • I enjoy cooking and I’ve been told it’s really not bad. At least all of my patrons are still alive, so I must have done something right.
  • I’m working towards retiring at 35, with enough cash to go travel the world for a year, taking pictures.
  • I wouldn’t mind doing more community upliftment work.

Now apparently I have to tag five more people, but seeing as I’m lazy today, just go tag yourself and let me know your answers.

Chilibean Interviews Aquila

// February 25th, 2007 // 3 Comments » // Blog Stuff, Media

I have been receiving some emails from some friends lately, asking what’s up with the lack of content over the last few weeks. Well the cat is finally out of the bag and things will return to normal in terms of regular updates.

I’ve been quite busy collaborating with Victoire and Paul over at Chilibean on the launch of their New Media business and did some videography and editing for their announcement video.

Surprisingly and in a bizarre twist of fate, the Chilibeaners decided to interview me on my take on some social media topics. You’ll notice that I’m definitely better behind the camera than in front of it, but it was great fun to chat about the developments in online marketing. As mentioned on the Chilibean site, the video is part 1 of 4. They will post the remaining episodes over the course of the next few days, so stay tuned.

For your viewing pleasure (ahem)…it’s posted below. Enjoy!

If you’re still here after viewing that, I guess it’s only fair that someone buys me a drink now that I’m famous. Anyone, someone?

PS: This is also the first time that I’ve posted a Google video on Aquila Online. Let me know your comments if I should post similar videos on the blog.

Robot Slayings In Jozi

Traffic light slayings in Jozi Traffic light slayings in Jozi

“It is the eeriest feeling,” said Steven Jackson*, a 21-year-old waiter who was working at a nearby restaurant. “You’d wait for the lights to change, and wait, and think somebody is playing a sick joke.”

Police Chief Chris Kotze* said at a news conference that little was known about the slayings. No motive has been established and no connection has been found between the two sites of the killings. Police officials said they did not know whether these were gang related incidences.

“It appears, at this point, to be very random,” Chief Kotze said.

Thabo Mokoena*, an off-duty police officer from Fourways, was eating dinner with his wife when he heard the echoes of the first slaying. He responded first, keeping the traffic light occupied until members of City Roads and the local ambulance services arrived a few minutes later.

But for thousands of people, these two robots have become part of their lives, keeping watch over a thoroughfare of pedestrian commerce that echoes many of the old values and perceptions that car culture and sprawl have supplanted.

“It feels like somebody has invaded our small, safe community,” said Anna Forte*, a local resident.

***Update***

Thanks to M.R. who sent in this one. It seems as though the culprit finally met his match. hehehe

Valentines - I Heart You

Seems as though everyone has been gripped with valentine’s fever. Some are spreading the love more than others. Thanks to Katt for the pic above. Brilliant.

Jessica Hagy over at Indexed came up with this corker – “What are you getting for valentines day?”

And if you’re into hot stuff…the peeps over at Chilibean are spreading some hot chili luvin’ tomorrow. Go check it out.
