Wordpress Version 2.1 Launched
Wordpress fans, this is your lucky day. WordPress Version 2.1, dubbed Ella, is now available and it seems to be even better than before (over 550 bug fixes).

One of the new features I particularly like is this one:

“You can set any “page” to be the front page of your site, and put the latest posts somewhere else, making it much easier to use WordPress as a content management system.”

Obviously the downside is that some of the current plugins may not be compatible, so best check that out before you upgrade.

Download your copy of the latest stable release now.

    AAAArrrggg…. phok! …
is it compatible with current skins?

  2. Aquila says:

Well that’s the question – I think we need to go back to the skin creators like Blix, Hemmingway, cutline etc. to check that they are compatible (I’m sure they are).

However, our modifications are also quite intricate which may or may not screw things up as well. It almost feels as though we need to learn this thing from scratch again.

DOH! And my site is completly customised… im scared… upgrade… eish!

  4. angel says:

so what is it with everyone upgrading their programs and screwing around with their existing users!

  5. Aquila says:

Tripeak – uh-huh…my feeling exactly. I don’t mind an overall revamp on mine, but not so sure I want to start from scratch (if at all necessary, I don’t know)

Angel – hehe, necessity my dear – to keep people interested and on their toes.

  6. Daedalus says:

Hmmm… think I will hold back on this release for now until I have the current revamp live…

  7. Aquila says:

probably best D – in my case I’d probably go directly into the new thing and then take the time to re-skin it….no point in me starting (completing) it in this version…

    Noticed the subtle tweaks lately?

  8. I had no problems with any plugins or my own modified themes.

I use local test server before I do ANYTHING live though, so me never risked anything major.
