Hector Peterson shot and killed during a massive demonstration to protest apartheid laws in South Africa

Over at Neatorama, they have a collection of 13 photographs that changed the world.

“Any picture can speak 1,000 words, but only a select few say something poignant enough to galvanize an entire society. These photographs screamed so loudly that the entire world stopped to take notice.”

Some of these pictures include the murder of a Vietcong by the Saigon Police Chief, a burning Hindenburg, Einstein sticking his tongue out and the Loch Ness monster.

Although all these are very relevant and thought provoking, I’d probably include some pictures such as the one above, Hector Peterson shot and killed during the Soweto riots, the man who stood in front of a tank during the Tiananmen Square protests or even the shot of earth from the moon during the Apollo 8 mission.

There are so many more of these pictures that quite literally changed the world. What other pictures would you add to the list?
