Today we look at the word, “WOW”. This word could mean quite a lot of things to different people, so let’s examine….

  • An utterance of amazement
  • An utterance of sarcasm to point out that something is pointless
  • World of Warcraft – Blizzard Entertainment’s multiplayer online role-playing game
  • WOW is MOM spelled upsidedown
  • One of the few words spelt the same in reverse
  • Whip ‘em Out Wednesdays – featured on the “Opie & Anthony” radio show. Listeners would place “WOW” bumper stickers on their cars, and on Wednesdays, women fans were encouraged to flah their bare breasts at cars with the stickers on them.
  • (Hmm – there’s an idea!)

Or, it’s a vanity plate from Limpopo province, spotted in Sandton. (excuse the picture quality)

They start at around R1000 a pop for the usual 3 letters, 3 numbers GP thing….but then go up to around R5,700 and more for single to 3 digit alphanumeric plates.
