reVOLVOlution Hatched

I mentioned this before, but I’ll say it again – Move over GTi, here comes the C30.

This week Volvo released the first official photos of the new Volvo C30.

A sporty design, two doors, four individual seats, and a glass tailgate give the C30 a unique character that is sure to attract new Volvo buyers. The new Volvo C30 will be unveiled for the public at the Paris Motor Show in September, and production will begin at the end of 2006.

True audiophiles will love the Premium Sound system, with a digital 5x130W ICE Power amplifier from Alpine, Dolby Pro Logic II Surround, and 10 loudspeakers from Danish Dynaudio.

The range-topping five-cylinder, 2.4-litre T5 turbo engine produces 200kW of power and 350Nm of torque at 2,100rpm, sprinting from 0-100km/h in 6 seconds (claimed).

Eat my shorts, RunX, GTi, A3, 1-series…

    haha hopefully not.

  3. Dave says:

There is no way a Volvo will ever be able to match up to the Audi S3!

  4. sheldon says:

No friggin doubt! The very S3 to be released 06/07 offering well over 250bhp!!!

….never mind the RS3 packing around 350 horses!!! Can’t wait!!!

looks like 2 different Volvo’s cut in half and put together to make one – I think I kinda like it. Will have to go test drive the S40 sometime.

  6. Hey Aquila
Just caught up on your last posts – magic. Love the interesting reads one. ;)

Also thanks for my link, always appreciated!
You have a good day now, you hear.

    2.4-litre vs 1.8 litre

Not what I would call Apple vs Apple ;)

I recon the little 1.8 litre RunX is causing a lot of *testosterone inadequacy* anxiety in the 2.0 and 2.4 litre realms (VVTL-I means *standard engine* with a lot of *kick* – no turbo or extra litre’age needed)

Awwww… my comment in moderation box now?

No doubt the S3/RS3/RS4 range of Audi’s may be faster – but then you’re also looking at ridiculous pricing….

In the value for money stakes, I think the Volvo might do it. As the guys said on La’t Wiel last night – it’s just to shift the minds of the general public that is going to be a tough one…

Tripeak – think I need to take you for a spin… 191 KW of magic!

Peas – shweet – somehow your link was also one of those that got squashed in the move…but it’s back up again.

  11. LH says:

    Hi Aquila,

What you got going that’s 191 Kw? My T5 was 162 Kw when it was standard. I’ll send you my dyno sheet before I brag about more Kw.

A side note to those BWM 330i & M3′s out there. Turbo makes a HUGE difference at altitude, so don’t be so quick to compare Kw. haha…

  12. Aquila says:

LH – just a little ECU upgrade here in SA… I saw your sheet. Was yours upgraded before shipping?

  13. ShutterJane says:

    ooohhh. I like :D

  14. Aquila says:

sorry about that moderation thing D – not sure why only yours ;-)

  15. LH says:

Yes, done before shipping. I would be intersted in a bit more, though. Where did you get yours done?
