Recalled

I just love those “oh-by-they-way-your-vehicle-has-been-recalled” statements. Turns out that the Volvo S40′s have been recalled for a fuel line and handbrake problems.
If you happen to have a T5 engine, the polyamide tube in the fuel line is sensitive to the extreme temperatures that may occur in the area where the turbo/exhaust manifold is located. This may potentially result in fuel line leakage. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.
Great – just love it when the car could spontaneously combust…
Then, there have been reports of a potential defect in the handbrake systems of Volvo S40 and V50 models.
Still safe as houses…Let’s just hope the rest of the service goes down without a hitch.

Turns out some friends received notifications in the post on this matter. Where be mine?
Doesn’t sound too serious. But you never know about these things.

Hi Aquila, the registered letter I mentioned in my mail was from Volvo. They included a manual suppliment on how to use the parking brake, DUH! as well as a notice to take the car into my service centre to have the brake adjusted and an apology for the inconvenience.
Now I dread taking the car back to the dealer for another stress session. I have complained to them about swapping the car seat brackets around to no avail. They also dented the centre consol when they replaced the fuel line.
I love my car but the hassle with the dealer is frustrating!
Cheers,
LH

Since discovered that it isn’t one of those models. Talk about spoiling my fun!

LH – go to Volvo Bryanston. Must admit, their service yesterday was exceptional – all things considered.
Katt – hehe, sorry for him.

Try a Renault POS. Recalled for rear seatbelts AND for breaks. That’s NCAP 5 material that!

Oh grief! Thanks for the tip off! Flyboy’s employers just bought a Volvo, not sure if it is the same model though… hm, now the question is to divulge or not to divulge? Do you think the car will spontaneously combust with occupants?
