GatsometerAuto Express has just released the scoop on the new MCS Gatsometer traffic enforcement camera and I must say, this looks like one nasty piece of work. No more getting away with speeding or running that red light, because this baby has 4-lenses!

Manufactured by Dutch firm Gatsometer, it sports three digital still cameras, plus a video capture system able to record up to 4 different lanes of traffic, something which has been a problem for our current cameras that can only monitor one section of the road.

Don’t think you can try to get away with the notion that someone else was driving your car, as it it fitted with an infra-red flash, which means it can be forward facing to take pictures of drivers’ faces.

It’s encrypted hard drive has a capacity of 60,000 photo’s and can be accessed via any TCP/IP based communications. Hmm…I can think of a couple of other uses for this, but I’m digressing…

Local availability is not confirmed, but don’t be surprised if it does pop up at an intersection near you. In the meantime it would be wise to start brushing up on the various locations of our local speedtraps and hotspots.

good point…and as a failsafe, sneak up behind the thing and spraypaint the lenses – Not that I condone such behaviour…but just a thought.
