And the Oscar goes to… (insert drumroll)….Tsotsi!!!

South Africa’s drama “Tsotsi,” won the Oscar for foreign-language film at the 78th Annual Academy Awards.

According to Sunday Times Online, “Director Gavin Hood struck a nationalist them as he accepted the award, shouting: “Nkosi Sikelela iAfrika” and “amandla” — meaning “God Bless Africa” and “Freedom”.

But he also said he was accepting the award on behalf of all the directors of foreign films.

“We may have foreign language films, but our stories are the same as your stories. They are about the human heart and emotions.”
