2 Km/h

For four days in a row now, it has taken me, on average, around 1 hour, 15 minutes to complete the 17 km trip from Fourways to Parkhurst in the morning.
It just seems as though there are loads more cars on the road lately. Did everyone get cars for Christmas?

7:18… and you’re on the road – wow. I’m not even out of bed by then
Apparently there’s a 10% increase in JHB traffic annually. It’s all those cluster developments in the Fourways / Lonehill area plus the lack of access roads (and it will only get worse).
It took me 2hours with the rain to get into Sandton CBD from the north… gareth – u lucky bugger!

Tripeak – I was on the road for 28 minutes already at the time of the photo. It’s ridiculous crazy loco in the Fourways/Lonehill/ Douglasdale/Northriding area.
There’s pretty much only 3 main ways and 3 backroads to get across the highway – and with the influx of the new developments and people in the area….it’s a huge stuffup.
The funny thing is, that if you leave at say 07:55, it’ll take 45 minutes to travel the same route.

I do about that speed every day to work, but there’s no traffic and it takes me 1 minute. I walk!
I guess I’d better count my blessings.

aquila: what! 45min is a lot… if I had to leave work at 7pm it will take me 38min to drive to MenlynPark.
michelle: I envy you big time!
a: you live in CT and
b: you’re so close to work u can walk!

That slowly, that time of the morning, and it is 25oC!! that is when you know you should just go home to the pool!

Hey Rusty, first time I actually saw the temp. yeah, I’d much rather be home than go off to work when its already 27 in the morning.
Lucky?!? for us, it’s been quite miserable and cold lately – around 17.

either way the temps are conducive to better at home

The trip into Sandton from Fourways is always a mess because of the N1 off-ramp in Bryanston. I’m lucky enough to live on the Sandton side so I avoid all the major commuter build-up in the mornings.
