Got Me A PS2 With Gran Turismo 4

// April 30th, 2005 // General // 1,918 views

Finally decided to get me one of these little babies this week and it’s been bloodshot eyes, and sore fingers ever since.

Mine came bundled with Gran Turismo 4, which is quite an awesome game. Bare in mind through that this is all new to me, so I haven’t a clue what to compare it to, apart from the PC versions.

Some nice features of the slimmed down Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) is that it is roughly 75% smaller in volume than its predecessor and measures only 2.8 cm thick. It is also equipped with an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming.

For those with a thing for bling, rumours (and pictures) have it that the silver one is on its way.

Thanks to Engadget for loads of pictures of the black PS2.

Now to figure out which of the other games are worthwhile acquiring. Currently my collection includes Grand Turismo 4, Rugby 2005, Tekken 4, Conflict Desert Storm II and some less intense games, Trivial Pursuit unhinged and Crash Nitro Kart.

Any other suggestions? Is Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory any good?

  1. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is one of the best! If you’re into racing Need for Speed 2 is also cool

    Excellent thanks Andre.

Yeah, I also heard NFS2 was pretty cool.

    I’ll try both out.

Metal Gear Solid and Grand Theft Auto – power games bro. Oh, and the NHL games rock more than you can imagine – it’s actually the ps2 games that got me into hockey for real.

Of course, you’re just down the road from me, so if you want to borrow some games send me a mail and we’ll hook up…!

    Good ones, thanks Rich..!

MGS and GTA are both on my radar screen at the moment. I never really considered the NHL games until now, looked pretty intense. How is the gameplay – easy enough?

Here’s a question – why the heck are the games so expensive? Some of the PC equivalents are 25%-50% cheaper. I’m guessing that it has something to do with the better graphics on the PS than PC?

Cause they shagging us all sideways thats why. Those bastards argue : “Its on a DVD disk…bla bla bla”. Meantime Tekken Tag is smaller than 750 mb. ITS AN OUTRAGE! WE DEMAND CHEAPER GAMES!!

SSX Tricky and SSX 3 are two of my fav snowboarding games.

Burnout 3 – totally wicked action can’t put down ever racer. Big action with loads of colour.

First person shooter – Timesplitters 2 (Platinum) and watchout for the new Timesplitters 3.
    Project Snowblind

Third person – God of War (out soon)
Resident Evil 4 (end of the year)

Rachet and Clank 3 and Jak 3 are great entertainment.

Pro Evolution Soccer 4 – the best football title you can buy.

Fight Night Round 2 – good to smash your friends.

NBA Street – Suped up basketball game – totally insane action.

    Those are my contributions…..

Funny, just yesterday I heard of Rachet and Clank being a pretty cool and entertaining game.

Also thought about RAW vs. Smackdown and Alias (I’m a fan of Jennifer Garner okay) as some other options?

A PC game I’d like to see on PS2 is the recently released SWAT4.

I had Fight Night Round 2 and Pro Evolution Soccer 4 in my hands, but now cash is becoming a problem with most the titles being so damn expensive. Why so much if a DVD movie costs less than R200 each now days.

Rich..! we need to hook up soon buddy.

Shit, forgot to check back here until I saw the link from your new post. The nhl is way easy to pick up and play, great for a 15-minute break. Also I have MGS3 and haven’t been playing it, so feel free to borrow that. I have it at the office so give me a shout and pop in and grab it any time…!
