I Have Got To Get Me One Of These

// March 31st, 2005 // 2 Comments » // Cars & Bikes

In the immortal words of Will Smith in Independence Day, “I’ve got to get me one of these!“.

(Thanks to Engadget for the heads-up.)

The Smart Truck III was unveiled at Singapore’s Global Security Asia 2005 exhibition this week and it is indeed sleek, black and massive.

Apart from the array of flat-screen monitors and multiple cameras (including a periscope cam), you can get quite trigger-happy with the .50 calibre machine guns and anti-RPG (rocket propelled grenade) missiles activated via any one of the multi-coloured control buttons in the cockpit.

And if that wasn’t enough, one touch of a button can activate one of 16 missiles on the truck’s sides to shoot down any incoming RPGs in mid-air.

At a tad over USD 65,000 for the basic truck alone, you’ll have to fork out an extra few hundred bucks to load up this beast with enough firepower to start the fourth-world war.

Just one snag, since we’ll be paying R5 per litre of fuel, and I’m assuming this truck’s fuel consumption is measured in litres per kilometre, instead of kilometres per litre, you’ll probably need to rob a few banks to keep this beast going. At least you’ll be quite comfy in the air-conditioned, leather-clad cockpit, while you blast through the walls of your local bank branch.

(Not that I condone such an action of course!)

Transparent Screen

// March 29th, 2005 // 6 Comments » // General

Thanks to the Transparent Screens group for the idea.

Basically, it’s an optical illusion created by photographing what’s behind your screen, setting it as a wallpaper and then taking another picture with the two images lined up.

End result – a transparent screen!

It’s still not perfect, but bare in mind I only spent about 10 minutes trying this out…

Armed And Dangerous

In response to Rox’s challence over at Jo’blog I present to you Aquilaman. My interpretation of her challenge is twofold.

Wearing the suit enables me to have the powers of mass DESTRUCtion. However, since the criterion of the entry was about mass SEDUCtion, this suit also qualifies. Why? Well, notice the nipple stand around the torso area? So therefore this suit, represents a weapon of mass destruction as well as seduction.

Anyhow, since Rox blew all entries out the water with her loaded weapon, all we can do is wait for her second and third submissions. I hear that a Wonderbra and thong will be thrown into the mix. Oh and Rox, by virtue of this entry, you are now obliged to show us the rest…

The Most Unusual Song

// March 23rd, 2005 // 8 Comments » // General

With little over 6,000 songs in my collection at an average track length of 4 minutes, this translates to approximately 400 hours of music. It will take me around 17 days (playing for 24 hours a day) to go through every single song without one being repeated.

Obviously one is bound to forget 98% of the songs in your collection, so it was no surprise to find songs I’ve probably never heard before in my life, let alone knew I had in my collection. But that’s not the point of this post.

The question is, in your collection there’s bound to be a couple of unusual songs. I think my unusual song for the day must be ‘Sneaker PimpsCute Sushi Lunches‘. Trawl through your music collection and let me know some of your most unusual songs.

PS: I hear that approximately 90% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

How To Get Rid Of That Cockroach

// March 22nd, 2005 // 7 Comments » // General

Firstly, welcome to a new SA blogger, Konrad, over at apapop. It seems he has a bit of a problem with a trapped cockroach and would like some advice. Although commenting is not activated as yet, he does have a poll on the subject, so go over and make your mark.

I wonder what this is all about?
Note on future blogging events, this is how parties should be organised from now on. (Read that as girls in lingerie and bikini’s)
