Just a couple of news snippets this morning.

Apparently prince Harry has left his girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, citing family pressure and a lack of trust in her.

Daleen Matthee, renowned writer of books such as, Kringe in ‘n Bos (Circles in a Forest) and Fiela se Kind (Fiela’s Child), passed away on Sunday. Most South African children had at some time or another read one of her books as part of the school curriculum. Our thoughts go to her family.

On Wednesday, South Africans will be bracing themselves for Finance Minister Trevor Manuel’s Budget speech. Sin taxes on tobacco and alcohol products are likely to be increased, while travel allowances will likely be axed. We’re hoping for further tax cuts, but we’ll just have to wait and see. As they say, nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.
