Karaoke On A Whole New Level

According to IOL, “A Hong Kong radio presenter hopes to have sung his way into the record books after singing karaoke for more than four days.

DJ Barry Yip spent 81 hours and 23 seconds singing 1 000 songs in the charity record bid. With just 15 seconds rest between each song and with the help of 63 local pop stars, including actress and singing superstar Kelly Chen, Yip also managed to raise R150 000 for the charity Oxfam.

Yip, a DJ for a local music station, had a doctor on hand to monitor his blood pressure and a lawyer to verify his record claim.”

Damn, I honestly hope that this guy could actually string two notes together. If I have to recall some of our own ‘attempts’ (Yes! You know you did this during your drunken student days too.), it probably was 81 gruelling hours of tone-deaf nastiness. Worthy cause though.
